Georgia – A land that offers more than any other of its size
Situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Georgia represents a stunning blend of tradition and modernity. Bordered by Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, it is a country with a deep heritage—Christianity was adopted here as early as 326 AD, making it a true symbol of the faith in this part of the world.
In a single day, you can enjoy skiing on the fantastic slopes of the Caucasus Mountains and spend the afternoon relaxing on the Black Sea coast.
You must not skip the wine. Georgia is globally recognized as a top producer of this magic potion. Wine has been produced here for over 6,000 years using the traditional method in clay amphorae called qvevri. Since 2013, this ancient winemaking technique has been part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Georgia is also famous for its culinary delights, and the one dish you absolutely must try is the famous khachapuri. It comes in several varieties, but it is essentially a soft bread filled with cheese, sometimes topped with an egg. For meat lovers, there is kubdari, a soft bread filled with spicy meat. Gourmets also highly recommend chakapuli, a flavorful stew made of lamb or veal with herbs and plums, as well as satsivi—chicken or turkey in a rich, creamy walnut sauce.
Depending on how many days you have for your stay, here are a few locations we recommend visiting:
The capital, Tbilisi, is easy to navigate on foot. We suggest putting on some comfortable shoes and exploring the narrow, colorful streets of Old Tbilisi. The Clock Tower is a major tourist attraction, known for its whimsical design. Nearby, you will find the underground Meidan Bazar—the perfect place to meet locals, experience the culture, and buy souvenirs, spices, and wine. During your walk, you can take a break in one of the many charming restaurants and cafes.
For fans of modern architecture, the Bridge of Peace is a must-see. This distinctive glass structure offers a beautiful view of the Kura River and is particularly stunning in the evening when illuminated by LED lights—a perfect spot for photos. The city is also home to several sacred sites, including the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), Sioni Cathedral, Metekhi Church, and Anchiskhati Basilica.
For some fun, take a cable car ride to Mtatsminda Park, where you can enjoy dining and various attractions for all ages.
About 350 km from Tbilisi lies Batumi, a city on the Black Sea coast that is rapidly transforming into a modern metropolis filled with skyscrapers. Make sure to visit the Alphabetic Tower, a unique 130-meter-tall structure adorned with the letters of the Georgian alphabet. Having a coffee and dessert at the revolving restaurant at the top is a truly wonderful experience. Nearby is the Ali and Nino monument—a moving sculpture symbolizing love, based on the famous novel by Kurban Said.
For winter sports enthusiasts, Georgia has plenty to offer. The largest ski resort is Gudauri, followed by Tetnuldi, Bakuriani, and Bakhmaro.
In the western part of the country, you will find the Martvili Canyon, one of the most beautiful natural attractions. It makes for a fantastic day trip from Tbilisi. Explore the turquoise waters by boat, admire the limestone cliffs and lush greenery, and don't miss the nearby Prometheus Cave.
Georgia has so much more to offer. We leave it to your curiosity to discover the hidden gems of its cultural and historical heritage, explore more delicious bites, and find your new favorite wine.
